About the Authornicole williams

I’m the New York Times and USATODAY bestselling author of the CRASH series (HarperTeen, S&S UK), LOST & FOUND series, UP IN FLAMES (S&S UK), The EDEN TRILOGY, and a handful of others. I write stories about everyday kinds of people who find themselves in extraordinary kinds of situations. I tell love stories with happy endings because I believe in making the world a better place, and that’s one tiny way I can make it so. I’m one of those people who still believe in true love and soul mates, and would rather keep my head in the clouds any day over having my feet firmly on the ground.

Author Spotlight Hadley Quinn

Hadley Quinn SpotlightReady to meet our next author in the spotlight?? Let’s welcome Hadley Quinn to Up All Night Book Blog!

Hadley is  joining us in Portland and we can’t wait to spend some time with her here on the blog before then. Let’s get started learning more about Hadley…

For more details on our event and to register to attend the free event, visit: http://www.portlandauthorevent.wordpress.com/

UAN: Hi Hadley! Welcome! Is this your first visit to Portland? If so, is there anything in particular you are wanting to do while here (outside of meeting all the crazy fans?)? If not, what’s something you love about Portland?

Hadley: I am basically a local to the Portland area these days. For the past ten years I’ve lived in Southern Washington several months out of the year. I’m about thirty minutes from Portland. I have family and close friends up here in the Northwest so it’s a good place to be. My favorite places in the area are mainly the music venues since I love live music, OMSI, the zoo at Christmastime for Zoo Lights, and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. I probably visit Doernbecher’s ten times more than any other place in the city.

UAN: Yes, there is definitely so much to see and do in Portland! And now, you can say it was the city of your first author signing! 😉

Speaking of, what are you most excited about regarding the signing event on October 12th?

Hadley: The Portland Author Event will be my very first event as an author. I absolutely LOVE meeting people, so I think that is going to be the highlight of my experience. I’m not only going to be meeting readers that are familiar with my work, but ones that are not. It doesn’t matter if they’ve read my books or not… I’m sending them home with stuff anyways! When we meet someone, they get a little bit of us and we get a bit of them. It’s fabulous. Those are the moments in life that really mean a lot to me. It is what ties me to events and experiences in my life and makes each one of them unique.

UAN: That’s so very true about how each person we come in contact with makes an impact in our lives! I know a lot of people who are looking forward to meeting you!

If you could bring one of your characters with you to the signing, who would it be and why?

Hadley:  If I could bring JUST ONE character of mine? JUST ONE????? How cruel. (muahahaha!) They are all heart-stopping for different reasons! I’d bring Teague for some sexy man candy; an adrenaline junkie that has a dangerous job he’s hella good at. He’d be my rock. My security blanket. His ocean eyes would melt my panties, though. I’d definitely have to skip wearing them that day. If I wanted a feisty, humorous, badass chick with a tender sweet side I would bring Camryn. She could have dance party moments with me and we could plan a pretty sweet flash mob together. For the sexiest smartass you would ever meet I would bring Jay. He would also melt certain articles of clothing, so again, I’d leave those at home. And I’m sure he would offend at least eighty percent of you with his blatant honesty. However, he makes up for it with his charm and Alpha personality. You’re safe with him; he’ll put anyone in their place in a heartbeat. And speaking of kicking some ass when needed, Van would fight to the death for you. He is an MMA fighter with a soft heart for the people he loves, but I’m not sure if I could bring him without ignoring everyone else in the room. He would certainly be a distraction. So….yeah, guess I can’t decide and would just bring them all!!! I’ve never been one to play favorites…. =)

UAN: Well, who are we to argue with bringing all those fabulous people with you? 😉 *Note to self: consider panty choices if Teague or Jay are in the room!*

What’s one thing you’d like to share with your fans that they might not otherwise know?

Hadley: There are a lot of things readers don’t know about me. Mainly because I’m fairly new to the scene and just barely establishing my fan base, but also because I am a very private person. I just do my thing and don’t expect people to notice or care. Lately I’ve been sharing more of myself on social media, but just a little bit at a time. I guess one thing I could share is that I try my best to live by the Golden Rule. Nothing is ever gained by wasting time and effort on treating others like they are beneath you. I’ve met all kinds of people in my life and there is one thing that never changes: actions speak louder than words.

UAN: Well, thank you for sharing a little piece of yourself here, Hadley!

Any special teasers or exclusives you can share with us in preparation for your visit to Portland?

Hadley: Here’s an excerpt from Kiss This, when Camryn and Teague first meet:

[stextbox id=”custom” bcolor=”191970″ bgcolor=”eee8aa” cbgcolor=”eee8aa” image=”null”]

“Hey,” Teague said, softly grabbing her arm and stepping toward her. He was really close to her; close enough that he could lean down and kiss her if he dared. And he wanted to. He wanted to run his tongue across her pretty lips and then kiss her senseless. But he let go of her as he lowered his voice and said, “I’m Teague. What’s your name?”

Her smirk slowly returned. “I already threw myself at you,” she replied, nodding to the sidewalk. “What more do you expect?”

“A name isn’t asking much,” he shrugged.

“Well in that case, it won’t matter if I don’t give it to you.”

He paused briefly. “Well I cushioned your fall and I gave you my name. Only seems fair.”

“You caused my fall and I didn’t ask for your name,” she countered.

Teague bit the corner of his lip as he quickly assessed his options. Goddamn, she was a hard ass. “Okay, fair enough,” he said, holding up his hands. He stepped back from her and added, “Just know that I’d really love to know your name. In fact, I’d love to know more than just your name, but tonight I’ll cross my fingers, wish upon a star, and pray that someday you’ll just give me a name. Tomorrow I’ll rub Buddha’s belly, light a candle, do a juju dance around the fire… Sound like a good start?”

Her light laughter totally thrilled him. What a beautiful sound that struck a chord in his chest.

“Okay,” she answered, still smiling. She had the prettiest fucking smile he’d ever seen. “If you do all of that, maybe next time I’ll give you my name. But you have to earn it.”

She winked and took off at a jog.

[/stextbox]

UAN: Loved that moment in Kiss This! And for a little something special, we included the book trailer that we made for Kiss This…

About the Author

Besides books, I love music, dance, kickboxing, surfing, and sunshine. If I’m not riding a wave, I’m at a concert or traveling. Doesn’t tell you much, but you’ll learn way more about me from social media or my blog site!

My writing: I don’t write short stories. I’d rather have one full story instead of turning it into two. I believe in order to build a relationship with a book, it takes time to get to know it. I like my characters to be well-developed. I like the story to show rather than tell. I like my heroes to have integrity and my heroines to be strong. Just as importantly, I like them to have a sense of humor. I believe in adversity because it is a natural part of life, and I like my characters to learn that as well. And I definitely *prefer* happily ever afters!

Thanks for reading!

Author Spotlight C.M. Stunich

CM Stunich Spotlight

Our Author Spotlight is shining on CM Stunich today! We were very excited to get to know CM a bit before meeting her in Portland on October 12th. And we have a special exclusive teaser, so make sure you read to the end!

For registration and more information for our free Portland event, visit: https://portlandauthorevent.wordpress.com/

Please welcome CM to Up All Night Book Blog as we ask her a few questions!

UAN: Hi CM! Is this your first visit to Portland? If so, is there anything in particular you are wanting to do while here (outside of meeting all the crazy fans?)? If not, what’s something you love about Portland?

CM: Definitely not my first visit (I live in Eugene which is less than two hours away)! While I’m there, I definitely need to grab some bacon-maple donuts from Voodoo Donuts, and I’m kind of dying to get back into Powell’s Books to browse for an inordinate amount of time – oh, and maybe stick some of my swag in random places. 😉

UAN: Finally, we will get to meet in person even though we live so close to each other! ~Dawn

Mmmm, bacon-maple donuts! Voodoo seems to be a theme so far. All of the authors may need to converge on them at once! What are you most excited about regarding the signing event on October 12th?

CM: To meet my readers face to face for the first time!  That’s right-this is my first ever live signing, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that it’s close to home.  And did I mention that I was nervous as heck, too?  I doubt I’ll be getting any sleep the night before!

UAN: Your readers will love you – with or without sleep! 😉

If you could bring one of your characters with you to the signing, who would it be and why?

CM: Hands down, Turner Campbell from REAL UGLY and GET BENT.  For one, he’s smokin’ hot.  For two, he can put on a mean show.  And three, he’s hot.  Oh, wait, did I mention that one already?  Besides, he’s such a precious train wreck of a human being that he’d be entertaining to watch.

UAN: You did mention his hotness factor a couple times, but well-deserved!

What’s one thing you’d like to share with your fans that they might not otherwise know?

CM: Totally random fact, but I don’t know if anyone knows this…I am a closet ‘otaku’. That basically means I LOVE Japanese anime and manga.  The louder and crazier the story, the better.

UAN: Never heard of ‘otaku’ ~ that’s really interesting and not expected!

Any special teasers or exclusives you can share with us in preparation for your visit to Portland?

CM: I am going to give you a super secret exclusive excerpt from my upcoming novel, TAMING HER BOSS. (Oh, yay!!!) This is a tidbit of chapter one.  I haven’t revealed the cover yet, but if you’d like to add it to your to-read list on Goodreads, you can find it here:

TAMING HER BOSS – CHAPTER ONE (unedited) by C.M. Stunich

My boss is a dick.

This is a fact that can’t be sugarcoated, denied, or contemplated. It just is. Lex Lyndon is an asshole.  He struts around the office in a suit that costs more than my car and he never smiles.  You’d think a man who owned a piece of fabric worth more than a Lexus would at least have something to be happy about.  But no.  Instead, he breathes down the necks of every employee on floor twelve and occasionally makes his way down to floors eleven and nine to glare and stomp around in his five figure loafers (he only skips floor ten because it’s where the cleaning supplies are kept).  He’s attractive in that dark, mysterious sort of way, but any infatuation I might’ve developed over the man has been completely and utterly flattened by narrowed, steel gray eyes and lips pursed so tight I don’t think a kind word has ever filtered between them.

For the most part, Mr. Lyndon avoids my desk.  One, because I’m always here on time. Two, because I never leave early.  And three, because I’m the best at what I do.  Period. Although, in all honesty, I don’t think Lex Lyndon has any clue what it is that I do for his grandfather’s-now his father’s-soon to be his business.  So when he glides over to my desk, smooth as smoke and twice as sultry, I ignore him and keep on doing what it is that I do. That is, what I never expected I’d ever be doing.  My moms (yes, I have two of them) think I’m simply a paper pusher, and they’re disappointed enough as it is.  Three years of art school and this is all you have to show for it?  Well, so I suppose I’m a bit of a sell-out as far as things go.  I abandoned oil painting and took up real estate.  But not local, residential stuff.  I’m talking international, commercial real estate, investments.  Basically, I move around amounts of money so astronomical they make my head spin.  I buy properties and then I sell them.  Online.

And Mr. Lyndon occasionally stops by to narrow his eyes and sniff.  Sometimes, he adjusts his tie – always a different color, never a brown or beige or black.  I guess the random assortment of brightness on all of his dark suited person should reveal something to me, like maybe underneath all of that pompous arrogance and demeaning sneer, there’s a person who feels things, who smiles, who laughs.  But I never see it.  To me, the legend of the Laughing Lex Lyndon may as well be Bigfoot.  It could exist, but a few shoddy, blurry portraits aren’t convincing anyone.

Today though, today is different.

[/stextbox]

UAN:  THANK YOU! Sign us up for that one!!

About the AuthorCMStunich

C.M. Stunich was raised under a cover of fog in the area known simply as Eureka, CA. A mysterious place, this strange, arboreal land nursed Caitlin’s (yes, that’s her name!) desire to write strange fiction novels about wicked monsters, magical trains, and Nemean Lions (Google it!). She currently enjoys drag queens, having too many cats, and tribal bellydance.

Always a fan of the indie scene and ‘sticking it to the man,’ Ms. Stunich decided to take the road less traveled and forgo the traditional publishing route. You can be assured though that she received several rejections as to ensure her proper place in the world of writers before taking up a friend’s offer to start a publishing company. Sarian Royal was born, and Ms. Stunich’s books slowly transformed from mere baking chocolate to full blown tortes with hand sculpted fondant flowers.

C.M. is a writer obsessed with delivering the very best and scours her mind on a regular basis to select the most unusual stories for the outside world.

Ms. Stunich can be reached via e-mail or by post and loves to hear from her readers. Ms. Stunich also wrote this biography and has no idea why she decided to refer to herself in the third person.

Renee: This will be my first trip to Portland and I’m kind of embarrassed to admit that other than the signing,  I’m most excited about the beer.  I also hope to hear some live, local music, which is something I like to do in every city I visit.

UAN: Portland is a great place for local music! And for the beer too! 😉

What are you most excited about regarding the signing event on October 12th?

Renee: I cannot wait to giveaway 15 of the new Atria edition galley copies of SWEET THING.  I haven’t even see the new paperback in person, so I’ll be extra excited to rip open that box when I’m there.

UAN: We can’t wait to see them too! (And thank you for the SNEAK PEEK below of the cover!!!)

If you could bring one of your characters with you to the signing, who would it be and why?

Renee: Of course, Will.  I would love to have Will Ryan there serenading us as we sign books.  Wouldn’t that be great?  I wonder how I can make that happen.

UAN: Oh, yes, Will…*swoon* I love the hell out of him! ~Dawn

What’s one thing you’d like to share with your fans that they might not otherwise know?

Renee: Will Ryan and I share the same ridiculous fear of flying.  I Mapquested from So-Cal to Portland, hoping it would be a feasible drive. . . not so much.  I love traveling so I’m still gonna do it.  I’ll just take Will’s advice and add a little extra tequila to my breakfast.

UAN: Haha! Just order some OJ with that and you’ll be good! We’ll look forward to seeing you arrive safe and sound!

And now…An EXCLUSIVE Peek at the new SWEET THING cover!!!

Sweet Thing Full Cover bordered

UAN: BEAUTIFUL, isn’t it!? Thank you so much, Renee, for sharing this with us! See you soon ❤

About the AuthorRenee Carlino

Renee’s first friends were the imaginary kind and even though her characters haven’t gone away, thankfully the delusions have. She admits she’s a wildly hopeless romantic and she blames 80’s movies staring Molly Ringwald for that. She lives in Southern California with her husband, two sons, and their sweet dog June. When she’s not at the beach with her boys or working on the next book, she likes to spend her time reading, going to concerts, and eating dark chocolate.

Author Spotlight: KYLIE SCOTT

Kylie Scott SpotlightOur next Author Spotlight honoring one of the authors taking part in our upcoming Portland Author Event is here!

For more details on our event and to register to attend the free event, visit: http://www.portlandauthorevent.wordpress.com/

Kylie Scott will be joining us on October 12, 2013, but before she arrives, we asked her a few questions. Please welcome Kylie Scott to Up All Night Book Blog!

UAN: Hello Kylie! We are so very excited you will be joining us in Portland! Tell us, is this your first visit to Portland? If so, is there anything in particular you are wanting to do while here (outside of meeting all the crazy fans?)? If not, what’s something you love about Portland?

Kylie: Yes, this is my first visit to Portland and the U.S.. I actually set half of my last book, “Lick”, in Portland so I’m really keen to “research” while I’m here. (Wherein “research” means visit every bar in the Pearl District and then go drunk shoe shopping.) I also hear there’s an excellent big book shop I need to check out while I’m in town.

UAN: I’m down with some drunk shoe shopping! Or shoe shopping of any kind! We are very honored to know that your first visit to the U.S. includes joining a kick-ass group of authors in Portland.

What are you most excited about regarding the signing event on October 12th?

Kylie: The opportunity to meet other romance readers and writers. It’s always great to get together with people who are passionate about many of the same things that you are. Books, books and more books. And beer.

UAN: Beer! I sense a theme between you and Julie who we interviewed previously. Pub crawl?

If you could bring one of your characters with you to the signing, who would it be and why?

Kylie: My rock star hero, David Ferris. I would sit on his lap the entire time and most likely giggle, quite possibly also play with his hair. It wouldn’t be pretty, but I’d be having fun.

UAN: *Sigh* You may need to share if you brought David. Haha! What’s one thing you’d like to share with your fans that they might not otherwise know?

Kylie: I also have two Post-Zombie-Apocalypse Erotic Romance books published, Flesh and Skin. They’re gritty, violent and smutty.

UAN: Those are definitely on the to-read list!

Any special teasers or exclusives you can share with us in preparation for your visit to Portland?

Kylie: Yes, indeedy. Here’s the start to Lick…

[stextbox id=”custom” bcolor=”c71585″ bgcolor=”c0c0c0″ cbgcolor=”c0c0c0″ image=”null”]

I woke up on the bathroom floor. Everything hurt. My mouth felt like garbage and tasted worse. What the hell had happened last night? The last thing I remembered was the countdown to midnight and the thrill of turning twenty-one, legal at last. I’d been dancing with Lauren and talking to some guy. Then BANG!

Tequila.

A whole line of shot glasses with lemon and salt on the side.

Everything I’d heard about Vegas was true. Bad things happened here, terrible things. I just wanted to crawl into a ball and die. Sweet baby Jesus, what had I been thinking to drink so much? I groaned and even that made my head pound. This pain had not been part of the plan.

“You okay?” a voice enquired, male, deep, and nice. Really nice. A shiver went through me despite my pain. My poor broken body stirred in the strangest of places.

“Are you going to be sick again?” he asked.

Oh, no.

I opened my eyes and sat up, pushing my greasy blonde hair aside. His blurry face loomed closer. I slapped a hand over my mouth because my breath had to be hideous.

“Hi,” I mumbled.

Slowly, he swam into focus. He was built and beautiful and strangely familiar. Impossible. I’d never met anyone like him. He looked to be in his mid-to-late twenties—a man, not a boy. He had long, dark hair falling past his shoulders and sideburns. His eyes were the darkest blue. They couldn’t be real. Frankly, those eyes were overkill. I’d have swooned perfectly fine without them. Even with the tired red tinge they were a thing of beauty. Tattoos covered the entirety of one arm and half his bare chest. A black bird had been inked into the side of his neck, the tip of its wing reaching up behind his ear. I still had on the pretty, dirty white dress Lauren had talked me into. It had been a daring choice for me on account of the way it barely contained my abundance of boobage. But this beautiful man easily had me beat for skin on show. He wore just a pair of jeans, some scuffed black boots, a couple of small silver earrings, and a loose white bandage on his forearm.

Those jeans … he wore them well. They sat invitingly low on his hips and fit in all the right ways. Even my monster hangover couldn’t detract from the view.

“Aspirin?” he asked.

And I was ogling him. My gaze darted to his face and he gave me a sly, knowing smile. Wonderful. “Yes. Please.”

He grabbed a battered black leather jacket off the floor, the one I’d apparently been using as a pillow. Thank God I hadn’t puked on it. Clearly, this beautiful half naked man had seen me in all my glory, hurling multiple times. I could have drowned in the shame.

One by one he emptied the contents of his pockets out onto the cold white tiles. A credit card, guitar picks, a phone and a string of condoms. The condoms gave me pause but I was soon distracted by what emerged next. A multitude of paper scraps tumbled out onto the floor. All had names and numbers scrawled across them. This guy was Mr Popularity.

Hey, I could definitely see why. But what on earth was he doing here with me?

Finally, he produced a small bottle of pain-killers. Sweet relief.

I loved him, whoever he was and whatever he’d seen.

“You need water,” he said, and got busy filling a glass from the sink behind him.

The bathroom was tiny. We both barely fit. Given Lauren’s and my money situation, the hotel had been the best we could afford. She’d been determined to celebrate my birthday in style. My goal had been a bit different. Despite the presence of my hot new friend, I was pretty sure I’d failed. The pertinent parts of my anatomy felt fine. I’d heard things hurt after the first couple of times. They sure as hell had after the first. But my vagina might have been the only part of my body not giving me grief. Still, I took a quick peek down the front of my dress. The corner of a foil package could still be seen, tucked into the side of my bra. Because if it was sitting there, strapped to me, no way would I be caught unprepared. The condom remained whole and hearty. How disappointing. Or maybe not. Finally plucking up the courage to get back on the horse, so to speak, and then not remembering it would have been horrible.

The man handed me the glass of water and placed two pills into my hand. He then sat back on his haunches to watch me. He had an intensity to him that I was in no condition to deal with.

“Thanks,” I said, then swallowed the aspirin. Noisy rumbles rose from my belly. Nice, very ladylike.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked. His glorious mouth twitched into a smile as if we shared a private joke between us.

The joke being me.

Author Spotlight: JULIE PRESTSATER

Julie Prestsater Spotlight

Today on Up All Night Book Blog, we bring you our first Author Spotlight honoring one of the authors taking part in our upcoming Portland Author Event. For more details on our event and to register to attend the free event, visit: http://www.portlandauthorevent.wordpress.com/

We love all the authors who will be joining us on October 12, 2013, and can’t wait to share a little more about each of them! Without further ado, let’s meet Julie Prestsater

UAN: Hi Julie! We are thrilled you will be in Portland very soon! Tell us, Is this your first visit to Portland? If so, is there anything in particular you are wanting to do while here (outside of meeting all the crazy fans?)? If not, what’s something you love about Portland?

Julie: This is my first visit to Portland. Besides meeting the crazy fans, I’d like to eat at least one of the places featured on the Food Network. Maybe the Stepping Stone Cafe for breakfast–from Man vs. Food. I’m also up for anything the fans suggest, like a great brewery??? wink wink!

UAN: We just might have to find a brewery for you! FANS – Any suggestions for Julie, drop her a note in our comments section.

What are you most excited about regarding the signing event on October 12th?

Julie: Meeting new people. Catching up with some of my favorite authors. And reuniting with some of my favorite readers from Vegas!

UAN: Yes, we know there are a few readers who were in Vegas and also coming to Portland. If you could bring one of your characters with you to the signing, who would it be and why?

Julie: Ooo… this is so hard. I think I would bring Melissa …aka Melly Belly because she is so much fun to hang out with. Oh shit, maybe I would bring Chase so I could watch some of the ladies knee him in the balls while others hugged and kissed him. 😀

UAN: Ha ha! So true about Chase!! What’s one thing you’d like to share with your fans that they might not otherwise know?

Julie: I effing love each and every one of you! So much so that I’m flying me scared ass all over this continent to meet you. I HATE to fly. Really, truly hate it. Like I want to vomit on my keyboard right now just thinking about it. So don’t be surprised if I get off the plane either drunk or heavily medicated.

UAN: Haha! Cheers to flying safely! Any special teasers or exclusives you can share with us in preparation for your visit to Portland?

Julie: I’m going to be doing a cool giveaway for those who have read one or more of my books before the signing. I’ll post something in the Portland Author Event group soon so stay tuned.

UAN: That’s definitely something to look forward to! Thanks, Julie, for visiting with us!
